Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara in Jumbo Jet Review

I got a sample size of the Clinique chubby lash fattening mascara in a small Clinique set that also included a makeup remover and an eye cream. I will be reviewing the whole set in the future and tell you my thoughts on whether it is worth it or not. In today’s post, I will be talking about the mascara and show you how it worked for me.

Formula
This mascara claims to be very volumizing. It is supposed to give bold, dark and voluminous lashes without any smudging or flaking.
The formula  is not too wet but not too dry. When getting the brush out of the tube, it comes overloaded with product and you get some excess product at the end of the brush so it is better to wipe off the tip before application.
The brush shape is very similar to the Essence i love extreme crazy volume mascara but the formula of the Clinique one is less clumpy.

Result
The plastic brush grabs on to the lashes really nicely and it separates them well. It gives thickness and more length than volume. As most mascaras, i find that it performed better several days after opening it as the formula has dried down a little bit. With one coat, you can get a nice result and after the second coat it can start to look clumpy.  It is extremely black and it does hold the curl well too .
The formula is lightweight and it does not feel heavy on the lashes which is great ! I didn’t notice any smudging or flaking during the day and the mascara was easy to remove with a water based makeup remover.

So overall, I think that this mascara provides nice volume but not as immense as it claims. It is still a good option if you like high end mascaras. It gives a beautiful fullness to the lashes and it does not look clumpy or heavy. Will I repurchase it? I don’t think so . I can get similar results with another cheap drugstore alternative. For a mascara that needs to be changed every 3 to 6 months, paying a high end price should be totally worth it otherwise I prefer to get a drugstore one.
So these were my thoughts, tell me in the comments if you tried this mascara before and what do you think about it ?

Until Next Time !

The mascara does look to do the job really well. However, I agree, if you can get one that is just as good for a cheaper price then why not? I always, always use drugstore alternatives too!

I haven’t had any luck with Clinique’s mascaras, none of them every do the job for me. That wand doesn’t look like it’d do anything though so I’m surprised at how much thickness it added to your lashes!

I agree – if you could get the same results with a drugstore mascara, then why spend the extra money. But your lashes do look great ! What drugstore mascara were you referring to?

Thank You 🙂 I was talking about the ‘essence i love extreme crazy volume mascara’. It is more clumpy but it gives a lot of volume too.

The wand actually looks pretty good but not sure if it’ll work on my pathetic lashes. I’ll try to get a sample though.

I didn’t love this mascara and much prefer their High Impact Extreme Volume mascara – have you tried that one?
