When it comes to setting the makeup, I am a big fan of translucent loose setting powders! I find them to be perfect for setting the face without adding any texture or coverage. When I spotted the Rimmel Match perfection Silky loose face powder at my local Walmart ,I was really excited to give it a try and see if it can be a dupe for the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder! So here are my thoughts.
Texture and application
This powder has a very smooth texture that is silky to the touch. It is very finely milled and it disappears on the skin without adding any coverage. I like to apply it all over my face after foundation using a big fluffy brush. It applies evenly and it does not look cakey or heavy.
A great tip is to use a small amount because a little bit goes a very long way! It gives the face a matte finish and it helps blurring the pores without settling into fine lines. As this powder is translucent, it does not add any color to the face.
Does it work for baking?
I tried this powder with the baking technique and I used the new Covergirl Outlast All-day concealer. I was really satisfied with the result and my under eye area did not look cakey at all. The powder did not settle into any fine lines and my concealer stayed put all day long.
I have extremely oily skin and I started to find a hint of oiliness peeking through by hour three to four. For me, this result is satisfying because i usually get oily after 2 hours and all the setting powders that i used before do not leave my face looking matte for more than three hours. So I think that if you have normal skin you may need to touch-up after six or seven hours.
I find that for the price, this powder is a great product! It can be considered as a close dupe for the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder as it has a nice texture that does not look cakey or heavy over foundation . I highly recommend giving it a try !
